but what im looking for is a good OCing board ... that can handle dual and quad core (45nm) technology ... and then when nehalem comes out ill buy a cheap quad core from all those people switching and get another year hopefully out of it

That is probably what my problem is then, I am not very experienced at OC'ing, so when you get yours and get everything running super, you can help me ((((-:
By the way what CPU are you going to use????

im going to use intel's E8400 (wolfdale core) for the time being

ya ill be glad to help ya get your stuff set up or at least more of an idea of what you can do haha with this board once i have had a few days to tinker with it ...

and what do yall think about open box deals? ... from newegg on motherboards...

Return policy on open box is scarry to me
1) return within 15 days

2) Return for replacement within: non-replaceable

(which only means in order to get another one, you will have to pay full price, and by the time you pay for shipping the old one back, the new one costs you a lot more than it would have originally)

This is just me speaking, but I would never buy an open box electronic like a motherboard or graphics card, or memory

I haven't used one of the X48 Rampage Formula models, it appears to be the cousin to the P5Q series which has the X45 chipset. It looks like a toss-up to me, but I could be wrong, and you probably know better than I. There is a difference of $100 dollars almost.

I like my P5Q Deluxe and it seems to run more stable than the P5W DH Deluxe I have, and when I get adventurous I will mess around some with the settings. Today I have been trying to rebuild my wifes computer, to no avail, and finally gave up and am rebuilding a Intel D945 PSN board I had with a dual core 840 CPU for her.

the rampage is a nice board, i just got it yesterday. much nicer then my p35, wich was a godly board to me. the thing with p45 and x48 is, with p45 you are locked into and 8x/8x pcie config. with the rampage you get the full 16x/16x pcie capability. and yeshuas, your p5q is much better then your p5w, its light years ahead.
