Windows 10 - Redstone 2/Creators Update testing

Windows 10 - Redstone 2/Creators Update testing

Last week (8/11/2016) Microsoft provided a new Redstone build to testers, this one is:
Insider Preview Build 14901, they haven't added the .rs2 to the registry "current version" info yet, ATM there its called: 14901.rs_prerelease

I checked for new lock screen images, they haven't changed since the .rs1 builds.

DualBootPro 1.1 still works fine in this build (x64).

All the apps I have installed are working too, even the Lytro Illum Light Field camera application.

Last Tuesday Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14905 was released.

A few new things are broken like the Power button in the Start menu, on this one I have to rt. click on the (task bar) Start button & choose power to restart or shut down the PC.

Yesterday a new Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14915 was released.

This one has several fixes that I noticed & after running "Disk cleanup" & restarting the PC 2x I got a very quick restart to the lock screen.

On October 7, 2016 I installed the new Windows Redstone build 14942, it went smooth & fast using Windows Update.

According to ZDNet
Five surprises in the latest Windows 10 Insider build and what they mean

Most of the changes in the latest Windows 10 preview release, build 14942, look like minor tweaks. But they point the way to more significant changes to come next year. Here's what to look out for.

In the "Windows as a Service" era, Microsoft has been refining not just the user experience but also some of the fundamental architectural elements of its flagship operating system.

The process really started four years ago, with the release of Windows 8, which was followed in relatively rapid succession by a major update and Windows 8.1.
>snip<
But look a little deeper and you can get a glimpse of what those changes portend for the future of Windows.

The obvious starting point is, of course...

The new old Start menu
The retouched Photos app
Registry Editor's new address bar
Service Host processes
The disappearing Control Panel

Another new Redstone build today.
It is build 14965, I have not downloaded it yet.

I am starting to get a bit burned-out w/ so many builds coming so often

I installed Redstone build 14965 & sure enough Microsoft released another new Redstone build 14971 so I downloaded it using Windows Update & it installed on the test rig.
The update went smooth except since I was early getting it, the download was slower than usual.

This one sadly has the (MS) Paint removed & Paint 3D (preview) available instead, it appears the Microsoft is removing Paint permanently now :(

The new Paint 3D app is now included in every build of Windows 10 and will replace the traditional Paint app in Windows. For some, this may not be good news because if you are like me, I prefer the older app for quick and dirty edits to photos and the new app has a completely different UI which takes a bit of time to learn and navigate, unlike the old ribbon interface.

edit: The Command Prompt is leaving/gone also & is being replaced by Power Shell.
