Socket for a chip in my nic

curious if anyone knows what the extra socket on my NIC is for? 32 pin ic socket. Just curious.

If I had to guess, it may be to make it a dual gigabite card

no its a chip, encryption? there is no place for a shpeel other that the chip socket. ????
