seeing as my current monitor is a 14inhc (12.5inch viewable!!!) old old old IBM contraption (im pretty sure it dawns from the age of steam power) im investing in a new monitor. Anyone had any experience with ACER monitors, specifically this one below?

http://www.acer.co.uk/acereuro/page4.do?dau22.oid=3729&UserCtxParam=0&GroupCtxParam=0&dctx1=17&ctx1=UK&crc=1954942662

its a 17incher but im getting it in black.

Maximum Resolution

1280 x 1024 @ 60 Hz

It doesnt list the price, so unless its REALLY cheap, I would say no (I mean under$100 USD)

Hmm just did a little looking that 79 pounds... or 149 USD...

My monitor 19" Envision www.envisiondisplays.com cost me 145 USD

19"Flat CRT (18" viewable)
Max suppported resolution
1600x1200@75Hz

I would definitely do a little shopping around...

I've seen Acer LCDs and their prices are usually near at at the very bottom compared to others. Not too sure about the quality though.

They exualy seem to be very good, the only problem they have, is that they don,t have DVI.

my Geforce 6600GT has a VGA and DVI output, though it came with a DVI/VGA adapter so that doesnt worry me too much.

You have a 6600 and you want a 70 dollar monitor?

The thing i pointed out about the max res of that monitor was the LOW refresh rating...
you will notice the poor quality when gaming...

(BTW... when they say MAX res @60Hz... you monitor lasts longer if you dont max out your refresh rate, so I heard...)

While 70 bucks is cheap... you might want to spend a little more if you plan on gaming...

aaah... well i guess i dont really notice it seeing as i have a 1024x768 at 60hz currently. it all depends if i can really be swayed to shell out more cash. im a bit strapped at the moment as it is. im definately coming around to the idea of a better monitor but still edgy about letting go of to much money.
