error 10047: an address incompatible

Postby marathonman on Sun Jan 09, 2005 8:49 pm

cannot enable firewall service after spyware removal

seems to occur in conjunction with microsoft antispyware

error 10047: an address incompatible with the requested protocol was used

if you get this problem, open a command prompt and type:

Code: Select all
netsh winsock reset

reboot, and you will get your firewall back.

I would like to thank you people for posting this discussion publicly. I encountered a problem with a similar message when trying to figure out why my network connection disappeared. The solution you gave worked for me. My concern now is if the spyware removal really did it...

I don't think it's related to the installation itself of MS -- it's related to actual spyware removal. So what probably happens is that it finds something, removes it, and that is when the problem occurs.

It doesn't happen when you install MS Antispy -- it happens when you remove spyware with it.
