VistaBootPro Error Msg
I just purchased VBP 3.3 and when it loads it tells me that Vista is either not loaded, or loaded on a hidden drive.
Did I just waste $9.99?
Please help.

Re: VistaBootPro Error Msg
Joe,
This is a very normal error message. There are a wide variety of issues that could cause this error which most stem from the operating system. However, we have identified where there are a few select systems that execute a certain piece of code faster than it receives the information. Unfortunately, without some in depth diagnostics of your system we would not be able to state which issue is causing this problem.
Don't worry though as there really is nothing wrong with your setup. It is just that the operating system is not returning the correct parameters that VBP needs. This feature that checks your system during the initial running of VBP has been removed in the upcoming release.

Re: VistaBootPro Error Msg
Thanks Jason.
Maybe you could help me with the problem that I bought VBP for. Every time I boot my computer I get the "Windows Boot Manager" screen with various options to boot.
I don't know what caused this to start happening, but no matter what I choose, I continue to get this menu when I turn on my computer.
I was hoping that VBP would help, but I'm not sure what do do now that I have the program.
It tells me I need to perform a BCD Registry backup, but I don't know what it is asking for. It shows a place to enter "paths" for backup and restore, but seems to require an actual filename. Its not very intuitive.
Thanks for any help.

Re: VistaBootPro Error Msg
Joe,
How many operating systems do you have installed on your computer? It sounds like you only have one. If so, then one of those entries is not valid and can be safely deleted. However, before doing that we need to figure out which one. In this case, whichever one that you normally boot to is obviously the one that you want to keep.

Joe,
Sorry, I guess I should have told you how to delete it.
1. Go to the OS Management screen
2. Select the OS in the list that you need to delete
3. Click on the "delete" button
4. Click "OK"

Re: VistaBootPro Error Msg
Joe,
I see what is going on here. Here is what you will need to do:
1. Start -> All Programs -> Accessories
2. Right click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run As Administrator"
3. Type in bcdedit -set displayorder {current}
That will remove the WinRE from showing at your boot menu. The other option is to use VistaBootPRO and change the boot timeout to 0. But it is up to you which method you choose. I personally would remove the entry rather than use the boot timeout trick.

Re: VistaBootPro Error Msg
Jason,
I got this:
C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit -set displayorder {current}
The element data type specified is not recognized, or does not apply to the
specified entry.
Run "bcdedit /?" for command line assistance.
I still don't understand what happened. I only have 1 OS (Vista) which came installed on the computer.
I'm just trying to get it to boot without invoking the boot manager app.
Very confused.

Re: VistaBootPro Error Msg
Joe,
Sorry, I forgot to add the Boot Manager element in there. Basically, when companies like Dell, HP, and others install Vista on a system they also add the Windows Recovery Environment. This helps you in the off chance you need to repair your computer. Here is the correct command to run:
bcdedit -set {bootmgr} displayorder {current}
