i have created partition in the harddisc as per your instruction. My notebook is HP DV2000 series. When I boot with xp cd it boots up fine but when it reaches to setup page where it asks for - press enter to setup , r for repair... it does not go ahead after that. I get message saying no harddisc is found. Press F3 to exit setup.

Hopefully you are trying to install Windows XP SP2. If it is less than SP2 you may not see Sata drives. If so then you could slipstream SP2 into you XP installation disc.

Or if you are using XP SP2 then:
You may need to find out what Sata controller you motherboard is using and download the drivers for it and utilize the F6 function to load sata drivers.
