Your Hurricane 'Direct Hit' risk... Color-Coded Map

Postby kanaloa on Fri Sep 02, 2005 9:42 am

I thought this might be a neat way to show how many "direct-hit" hurricanes had made impact on the United States from 1851-2004. The color-coded map shows various shades of blue, white being no hits, the lighter being few hits, darker being many, and black being the most.

Wow, that's pretty interesting.

I was living in NJ for one of the two that hit there. I guess my parents couldn't get enough and needed to move to ole 110 Florida!! ^*^ :bashhead

You know, I was wondering the SAME thing... or Rhode Island vs Conn. I guess they mean where the eye came on... which would then make sense.

That's pretty cool.

The closest I've ever been to a hurricane was right here in Oklahoma actually. I totally forgot what year this happened but a hurricane came straight up Texas and held it's strength up to northern Oklahoma. By that time it was nothing but medium winds and lots of rain.
