I recently rebuilt my computer including adding a new 1TB hard drive. I had intended to run Win7RC but apparently my Netgear USB wireless adapter has no drivers that will work with Win7 yet, so I had to reinstall XP. At first I tried to do this with Win7 still installed (separate partitions) following the thread advice here, but I couldn't get it to work right, so eventually I just gave up, formatted the 1TB drive, installed XP on one partition, installed 7 on another, and it seems to work fine now. I get the Older version of Windows/Windows 7 dual boot screen on startup and both will load and are useable.
However, when I choose "Older version of Windows," it then takes me to a similar screen which lists Windows XP three times. I assume this is a combination of my old 320GB drive still having an old XP install on it and my failed attempts at using VistaBootPRO while trying to get 7-then-XP install to work. My question now is, what do I have to do to get it to only show the one correct Windows XP install instead of three? I don't want to format or disconnect the 320GB drive yet because I still have to get my old files and programs off of it. (I stupidly neglected to disconnect it while reformatting/reinstalling OSes on the 1TB drive.)
Also, does it matter that my new XP install gave the 320GB drive the letter C instead of its own partition, which is now D? Win7 has the drives numbered completely differently, too...
