First about your CPU, I really can't say anything about the E6300, you'll just have to see if it's a bottleneck or not. The good news is that you can upgrade to a quad if needed as that mobo supports it.
As to the GPU, I like the GTX 550tI
for the price/performance and it uses less power/less heat than the 2xx thru 4xx series. Your 500W PSU would be able to power that card.
