ever use linux before? If no I would recommend Drake or Red Hat for ease of install and use. Let us know what you decide!

From what I know I'd also say go with Redhat. ;)

You can't just download suse 8, like you can with redhat 8. you have to go out and buy it :(

Baptism by fire, try a real man's distro like Slackware or Debian. No really, it is going to depend on what you are using it for. You want a desktop replacement, use Redhat or Mandrake. You want an all-purpose server, go with Slackware or Debian.

You'll learn a whole lot with whatever you choose.

Public Keys

The primary purpose of the DATA statement is to give names to constants; instead of referring to pi as 3.141592653589793 at every appearance, the variable PI can be given that value with a DATA statement and used instead of the longer form of the constant. This also simplifies modifying the program, should the value of pi change.

Sure you can... At least if you live inside the EU.
SuSE offers the possibility to install SuSE Linux free of charge directly from the FTP server. The function scope of FTP versions is virtually the same as that of the "normal" version. Merely a few program packages have been excluded due to license reasons. The installation support is not included either.

Yes, but you can't download ISO's - if you want to install it on more than one machine, you must download all of the install files from their ftp and set up your ftp with their files.

"It is not possible to generate installation CDs from a complete download."

Redhat is easier to download and install for the new user ;)
