Wireless router pooped out

Wireless router pooped out

Postby yeshuas » Mon Mar 30, 2009 10:53 pm

My home network consists of a Comcast modem, connected to a Linksys WRT330N wireless router, and then to a Linksys SD2005 switch.

The last few days my internet speed has been like dial-up, and actually not as fast as dial-up. I have rebooted everything, computers, modem, router, and switch, many times and didn't help.

I decided to do a process of elimination, so I hooked the modem directly to a computer, and to my amazement my speed was back. ^*^

Then I connected the modem to the router, and then one computer to the router, nothing.

Then I connected the modem to the switch and then to one computer, and it again worked connected like that, but that is all I can connect to the switch is one computer even though it has 3 other ports

is it just one port on the router or is it all of them? To me, it would see odd that a port wouldn't transmit at full speed as usually network adapters/ports are either all or nothing. Have you tried different cables? Also, have you tried re-flashing the firmware to the router?

It appears to be all of the ports, and the wireless as I can't even connect via the wireless, it is like it just slowly started quitting and then poof it was gone.

I tried all kinds of cables, I reflashed the firmware, everything I can think of, all it will do is connect locally and not internet, and that the same with the wireless part too, it will connect to the local network which is one computer, itself  and that is all, no internet. :bashhead

Now I have to check and see if this thing is still under warranty, because it doesn't seem like I bought it that long ago, I think less than a year.

Maybe the issue is your WAN port since your LAN and Wireless LAN seem to be working well. I had a Linksys router that had two ports crap out on me, but neither of them were the LAN port so I was able to use it as a wireless access point until I replaced it with a new router months later. Seems like you got unlucky and the most important port crapped out.

The wireless is not working, nothing is working at all, no wireless internet at all.

The only thing I can access is the setup pages on the router

What about resetting to factory defaults? I know that reflashing is supposed to do that, but sometimes it doesn't.
