Wireless network and Windows Mobile

Wireless network and Windows Mobile

Postby phileysmiley » Sun Sep 06, 2009 10:48 pm

I have a pocket PC running Windows Mobile. It has Wi-Fi capability which operates pretty much like any PC. When I click on Wi-Fi it searches for available networks. It does find some networks but does not find my own.

I can connect wirelessly using my laptops so I know my network is working.

Anyone have any idea why my home network might not be showing up in the list of available networks?

My Dell Axim had to be set to discover wireless networks and was a pain to setup at first. I am charging mine up and go through the connection process to see if I can give you some help if no one else comes up with a solution before I get that done.

Thanks. I actually don't have to do anything to set it to discover wireless networks. All I do is click the Wi-Fi button. It discovers a couple of networks in my area -- just not my home network for some reason.

Are there any setting, like all networks or access points only or something like that?

Or a selection for network adapter?

Yes, there's:

1) All Available
2) Only access points
3) Only computer-to-computer

The same 2 networks keep showing up in 1) and 2). 3) just says "Add New..."

Normally, on my other PCs, my home network will show up with the others in 1) and 2).

=======================
I just checked on my laptop under "View available wireless networks" and the same 2 networks that are showing up on the phone are there PLUS my home network.

Have you tried to add yours under choice 3, I think that is how I had to do mine the first time if I remember right. It then asked which type network, like WPA etc and then the network password

Hmm...you know I think I do remember having to do that when I set up Vista. That may be it.

I'll try that.
