Windows Vista Premium SP1 home network

Windows Vista Premium SP1 home network

I have a computer with Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 on a home network with Windows XP Pro SP3. Every time I change the location of the network to "private" Windows Vista promptly changes it back to "Public" disabling the network. Quite tiresome and irritating! Restarting the computer to save settings does not help. Any ideas?

Try going to the properties of your network card in the Vista Control Panel>Network and Sharing>Manage Network Connections and change from IPV6 to IPV4. XP uses IPV4 and this could be the cause of your problem. I suggest you create a restore point first :)
