Windows 8 Build 7955 Install & Testing

Postby shreader on Tue Apr 26, 2011 8:47 pm

Yesterday a late M2 (Post M2) build of Windows 8 leaked online.

The leaked build is: 6.2.7955.0.fbl_srv_wdacxml.110228-1930_x86fre_client-ultimate.iso
The fbl means Future Build Lab
It is a Windows 8 client - Ultimate version

I reset the BIOS date to the current date/time.
My real hardware (keyless) install took 13 minutes, 20 seconds, after hitting “Next” (after formatting) to hit the desktop.

Here are some scrennys.

This IE9.0 build is faaaasssssssssssssssssst, very faaasssssssssssssssssst, I'm using it rt. now ^*^

I don't think its the RTM build though.

Earlier I tried & tried about 6x useing various Win7 beta keys to activate it... no joy every time :no
Has anyone else here had any success ?

Looks like I'll be rearming it next month unless (I break it or) another build leaks befor that.

Edit: Oh ya, does your build tage end w/ the "a32cf" like mine?

Yes it is really fast, and I don't think it is a RTM build or anything close to it, and yes mine ends in "a32cf" like yours
I tried a KMS keygen and then a WOAT v3.2 OEM/KMS activator tool and it says it is Vista ?????????????

I also noticed the start menu is like totally blank, except for All Programs, which is strange looking LOL

I had to try it, about 5-7 steps, I'll probably break the install before the August 1, 2011 evaluation time is up, it does say permanently activated though, whatever that means.
After a restart my aero glass came back too.

What-up w/ the Windows 7 name still, Win7 beta key maybe :question

have you looked at the "device manager" mine has some weird names with extra charactors under where you would update the drivers e.g. IDE and couple others

• Ya Dan, those are some odd names, I wonder what language they are?

I Edited my Post:

Today I tried the RedPill tweak on this Windows 8 build.

One has to make several other adjustments to get the Ctrl+Alt+Delete & "PW box" to show-up.
After adding the Ctrl+Alt+Delete window I started getting a #$%* admin PW window to change settings or do a system restore, sadly I just reinstalled the OS again.

I messed-up this install (see above) so I did a clean install, added the Win7 beta PW & after installing my chipset drivers the OS was activated, it didn't wait the 3 days or need any intervention by me.
