Postby BILLMCC66 » Sat May 16, 2009 6:07 am

I have been running it now for 11 days and like it except for 1 thing.
I can not get windows mail that allows me to use my ISP e-mail, I am only able to get windows mail live i.e. Hotmail.

Am i missing something??

I am only guessing here, but you should be able to set it up if you know the POP3 settings and login and password for your ISP mail and it should work.

Well I should have looked before I opened my mouth, as it is not like Outlook where you can set up POP3 accounts, the only thing I saw was adding your alternate email, in case of forgotten passwords etc.

Seems like a step backwards in my opinion

I got a reply from a friend who is an MVP (microsoft valued person) and he told me that windows mail no longer exists and to use a non MS e-mail you have to install a third party mail server i.e. G mail Fox mail.
so at least i know now.

That's weird.I wonder if it was due to the anti-trust issue. If you like Firefox for web browsing, try Thunderbird for a mail client.

Exactly, anti-trust is it! I believe IE can also be uninstalled, haven't tried it yet personally.

I installed the Live Mail on the Windows 7 RC x86 but only use it for the TechBeta newsgroups.

Installing previous versions of Live Mail were a problem but this last one work's fine here, don't use the email portion though.
