Windows 7 and XP Dual Boot - DPB errors on XP

Postby markevmis on Thu Sep 08, 2011 3:04 pm

See guide "Install Windows XP in Dual Boot with Pre-Installed Windows 7"

{Previously installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit; installed DualBoot Pro v1.1 as a test}

Installed Windows XP Professional SP2 32-bit, updated drivers, installed .NET Framework 2.0 SP1, installed DualBoot Pro v1.1

When attempting to Run Diagnostics (see "Create a Dual Boot Menu using DualBootPRO"), I get .NET Framework 1.1 error and DBP locks up.

Upon reboot, system goes straight to Windows 7 with no options to boot to Win XP.

Download and install NET 1.1 see if that will help, I have had to do that before.

{Just saw update; had to attempt alternatives in meantime, without success}

1. Ran Windows XP Install Repair successfully (Note: since initial install, WinXP Volume has been been labelled K:\)
2. Updated mobo chipset, installed Internet Explorer v8, WinXP SP3
3. Uninstalled/Reinstalled DualBoot Pro v1.1 (DB Pro has latest updates and backups of initial configuration)
4. CONTINUE TO GET .NET Framework ERRORS (with references to library on K: drive, the WinXP installation partition)
5. Attempted "Alternative Method to Create a Dual Boot Menu" DBPro gave success messages
6. (Now shows boot menu options and boots to Windows 7 without incident)
7. Windows XP Menu entry FAILS TO LOAD "\ntldr Status: 0xc000000f Application missing or corrupt"
8. Via Windows 7, DBPro appears to list all entries in order and Diagnostics show no errors.

Any advice regarding installing Windows XP on another hard drive and adding to the Windows 7 PC in order to dual-boot? Is there a guide for this?
