That error message makes me wonder if it's correctly identified in your BIOS?

I must say, when I was still building a fair number of computers a week for friends and others, I built up a huge pile of fubar'ed CD and DVD drives of all makes and description. Reliability just doesn't seem to be a strong point of optical drives.
