Do you prefer JPEG, GIF, PNG or other methods.
If you do prefer one, write why. Perhaps you know a better m,ethod than these, if you do, write on.

I maintain web pages for my work and I use Adobe PhotoShop which has an optimizer for images. The built in optimizer saves the images for the web in .gif format. It helps keep the size of .jpg files down which in turn speeds up the browsing time.

I like .jpg for it's small file size. .png and .gif are also good depending on what I need.

.tif is also great for high detail images.

For files you want to edit... .pdd or .psd is the best.

I've chosen PSD, as you can edit it, but I also like .jpg for its small size/

JPG is good for images like wallpapers, gif is good for images, with large areas of solid color, like windows dialogs, or desktops, and png combines the image quality and small size. Also png has alpha transparency, so i'll go for .png

JPG because it is so compatible with other applications. It can be resized very easily, small or large, and translates well as wallpapers, on my website, and via email.

I save the images that I make in Paint Shop Pro as .psp

That format is small, supports many colors, and can be used as a background in frontpage even if you don't have Paint Shop Pro installed.

I would say it depends on what you are using it for. Web: Gif, for smaller stuff. Jpg for slightly better quality. I like Png too. I would touch Bmp with a 3000k bandwidth. Yuck.
