Most other distros try to build a lot into the kernel, but likely leave stuff out for space/size reasons. Maybe you just need to update the kernel as it could be that newer release(s) have support for your card. What is the wireless card BTW?

It is a Linksys WPC600N wireless adapter

If your wireless card is using the chipset I think it is, that is probably why it isn't recognized in Suse. I think that for b/g wireless, it's using the BCM43xx chipset, which you can setup to run without NDISWrapper (and it isn't too difficult), it's not something that is setup in most default configurations that I've seen because it requires firmware to be built for the kernel and loaded. This guide may be able to get you B/G wireless in Suse. I can't confirm it though as I couldn't find much info on that card. It looks like it has two wireless chipsets though (on for B/G and one for N)
