Recently Shortcuts to websites have been appearing on my desktop. I thought I had contracted a virus but Norton gives it the all clear. I have deleted recently installed programmes and any programme in the add/remove list I did not recognise but the problem still persits.

Any sugestions?

If you have loaded a "free" proggy recently it may be installing itself. Ermm, what are the websites?

Just a description would suffice, unless they are trying to sell you something. http://security.kolla.de/ This will find spyware.

They offer "Free" products and casino sites. I have run ad Aware with no effect. I cannot see any gator product under processes?task manager.

Look in the Programs>Startup Folder and see if anything hinky is running there. Sometimes it will show up there and not in msconfig>Start.

I ran Adaware 4 times this afternoon. Each times it found new items of interest. Eventually it gave me the all clear. At present no sign of the shortcuts but time will tell.

Thanks Paul
