Warner Brothers and 180Solutions

You've heard of 180Solutions, no? Do you remember ncase then? Yup, same outfit though they are supposed to be legit now as per government decree. Now WB is offering some kid's games through Zango here. It tells you that you will install a searchbar with searches for paying clients. The kicker is in the EULA:

By downloading the Licensed Software, you get free access to sponsored content across the Internet. The Licensed Software will show you a limited number of ads that pop up on your screen in a separate browser. The ads are based on keywords from the sites you visit. Please note that you may receive Adult-oriented ads if you utilize keywords connected to, search for or view Adult websites.

Now, what 18 year old is going to play 'Bubble Burst'? Porn for kids, as if they didn't have enough to worry about, now WB is associated with them! Is there no place sacred? :confused :-x At least WB removed the Zango from obvious areas but they're still hiding the links deeper in. Disgusting!

I agree - 180solutions is the exact company that really needs to be abandoned and isolated from ANYTHING and EVERYTHING on the internet. My personal experience is that even going to this page (pro-networks) on an infected computer pops a porn ad. Real smart that technology is - anything that isn't Warner is 'adult'!

Next thing is we will see it bundled in AOL TimeWarner Cable and Dialup clients...

But why the Hell does Warner need this anyway? It already makes a killing everywhere else. It's worse that MS' WPA check tool. At least that doesn't send you porn every time you logon, and MS at least lets you remove it.

This send chills up and down my spine to think WB would do something like this.

I'm stunned, but not surprised, as the "kid market" doesn't bring in the bucks like the "p0rn0" market does............
Stunned because WB has up until now been kid friendly ....................

Zango can't even be blocked by any of the corporate or home filters, as it seems to be local and bypasses these solutions. Even with SurfControl for ISA Server (which is a big, big, big nasty content blocker- and blocks 99.9% trash) the stuff seems to get through! It's worse than the plague...
