Help Is On The Way

LIVE from WinHEC -- Yesterday, we were able to sit down with Mike Nash, Corporate Vice President of the Security Technology Unit, to go over some very interesting Windows Vista security features. Mr. Nash was one of the MS staffers who had made presentations to us at the Longhorn/Vista Labs we attended.

The Windows Vista Security session included a recap of a discussion we had at the Vista Lab in Redmond a couple of weeks ago. MS

Microsoft has released a Word document with most of the information from the session we had with Mike Nash (detailed in the above post).

Larry...Thanks for that link!! A great read...a bit "heavy" but very informative! I've skimmed it(and will go back over it in depth later) but it really points up the steps and effort that has gone into Vista in an attempt to keep us safe...even from ourselves!!<G>

It's nice to hear that they are re-addressing this as this really annoys me ATM. If I logon specifically as an admin, I should have access without all the babysitting popups, just like 'root' in Linux and have a more limited default account to go online. Are they afraid of the *nix community saying 'We told you so'?

If someone screws themselves when they specifically logon to admin, it's their fault if they install a rogue app. This is not a car. :no

You can also view the online page <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/technet/windowsvista/security/uacppr.mspx" target="_blank">over here</a>, not quite as in-depth though.
