ok when i go into full screen mode on Media Center on Vista, its started to flicker and the music is jumping all over the place..... anyone else experienced this at all

* Card: gForce 6800 265MB *total memory: 527* ( also this card caused me problems when trying to install vista and XP not sure if the car is on its way out or not i aint had the XPS for long about 3/4months now... )

I also have that card (GeForce 6800 Ultra w/256 MB).

I just started up Media Center for the first time (full screen) & it flicked all thru the setup & playing the Bear Video too.
Restarting MC didnt help.

I'm using the 'default' video drivers that Vista installed.

but it doesnt always do it though, if u keep maximizing and and un-maximizing it it does actually stop untill u come back out of full screen bt when u try it again it starts to flickers.... so best i can do is just open the window as big as i can on the desktop..... very weird and annoying problem... least i know it aint my card... was worried it would be if it was be an excuse to by the 8 Series Dual Card

I have an FX5700 using the 9.6.8.5 drivers from Nvidia and I have no problem with full screen videos.

I just updated the NVidia drivers to the v. 97.19, still flickers full screen.

i got the flickering on full screen too, i havea 6600gt card.

it seems to happen to me if i minimise and go back on it, but if i load the program and leave the computer alone then it seems to be perfect.


also when it flickers it seems to go slower

I too have a GeForce 6800 (only 128 MB RAM in this one) and it also flickers when in full screen on Media Center. However, I have found that if you turn off Windows Aero the flicker goes away. This is a very workable solution for the time being since Aero is only flash and glamor and I really only use the PC for media center stuff anyway. Just thought you should all know that it's the Windows Aero scheme that's causing it.

My guess is that it's limited to only a handful of display cards (specifically NVIDIA GeForce 5 and 6 series cards) since I haven't heard much about it. I'm going to keep checking NVIDIA's website for more details. Perhaps a new driver will fix this issue soon.

Vista Media Center requires superior hardware than an ordinary desktop computer, and the only surefire way of avoiding this behaviour would be to get yourself a DirectX10 GPU

By the way, i have had the same problem using the same card, the NVIDIA 6800 GT with default drivers, and with 97.19.

Now i have installed the new 97.34 drivers for Vista, and the problem seems to have gone.

in my case, when my pc comes out from sleep and i get to login MCE in full screen has two diagonal lines, top right to left lower corner. restarting media center seems to help it.
I have Asus video based on ATI X700 with 128 Megabyte.
