Vista Bootpro error please help :)

Postby jeffzz » Wed May 21, 2008 11:05 pm

Hello, I have recently gone to a dual boot setup in part with the help of Vista Bootpro. All has been working great except after a few updates, and some other software installs, I can no longer get back into the MANAGE OS ENTRIES screen. I get this error every time.

Unhandled Exception error....................

Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: Item.

System argumentnummeception: Value cannot be null
Parameter name item........

I am just typing this since I have 2 computers hence the lack of detail. However I have looked at many posts on this site and I have the same null value item that others have had. I can boot into either OS, (vista and xp) perfectly, I simply wanted to change the lighting fast timeout upon the OS selection, however it will not let me in that screen.

Any solution is greatly appreciated, and btw, the program is great. It worked like a charm except it wont let me back in.

Thanks a ton in advance.

If you just want to change the boot menu timeout, go to Control Panel>System Properties>Advanced>Startup and Recovery>Settings and you can change it there. I'm not in Vista but I'm sure you'll find your way with those directions.

Which version of VistaBootPRO are you using by the way?

Tried that too

Im using the newest version of bootpro. I tried the vista version of your suggestion of how to mod the boot.ini and apparently since it was vista and not xp (vista apparently takes over the bootloader), it worked. I encounted a missing or corrupt hal.dll file and now i have to rebound from that. This is getting annoying. Im about to just wipe vista out altogether and use xp.

Can you post the contents of VistaBootPRO -> View Settings -> All

This will help me see where the null value is. It is probably a drive or something like that which can be fixed very easy.
