vista boot pro 3 problem running

Postby DragonRidr on Wed Sep 27, 2006 6:36 pm

hi going to keep this short as i have a broken right hand so hard to type.

i installed vistbootpro so that i could fix the boot menu. that i need todo because i deleted one install of vista and then installed again. i also have XP on the HD on another partion it is on the first partion vista on the 3rd.

i go to run vistabootpro and it never comes up. it shows in proccesses but that is only way i know it loaded. have tried reinstalling it to see if it glitched on the install. like vista has done on me 2 times now.

any help will be apprecated. thanks

Hi DragnRidr and Welcome to PROnetworks.

I don't think we have ever encountered an error like this before with VistaBootPRO. I would suggest trying to download it again and then reinstall, as it is possible that the download itself got corrupted.

If that doesn't solve the problem, or if you have already tried that, please post back and we will see what we can figure out to get things working for you.

vista boot pro problem running update

Postby DragonRidr on Thu Sep 28, 2006 9:20 pm

okay here is the info on the system and i did download the install file again it was vistabootpro 3.0 btw and it did the same thing when at end of install it had selected run it. i said yes and had it run nothing showed up other then in the task manger.

i have an ide drive that is only 9 gig and is set up for use by lunix but at moment i have not used it. the main drive is a 250gig sata drive and is partationed into 3 . 1st partition and primary,it is set as c: and is my winXP install.
the other 2 are logical drives. the 2cd partition is formated for lunix but due to not wanting to take a chance on looseing my xp install and files till a week ago when i moved them to a lap top i freed up to use and store them on i havent used the lunix partation as i didnt want to mess with the boot loaders.
the 3 partition wich in windows is labled D: is where i installed vista. i can and am willing to redo the lunix partition if nessarry to help fix this as i havent used them so have nothing to save on them at this time.

mother board is a gigabyte board with nvida chipset Amd64 3200 proccessor. the vid card is a nvidia geforce 5200 i have 512 meg of ram on the mother board and think cant rember for sure but prolly 256 of video memory. have aread only dvd drive and a rewrite dvd/cd drive.

als i run tea timer from spybot search and destroy incase that might cause a problem but have seen no notice from tea timer about vista boot manger.

if you need more info let me know. am not an expert but not a novice ither .have 5 PC in my house and networked that i maintian. i do know when i dont know enough and need help though lol :yesnod:
hope this helps and thanks for your time and any help given. and thank you for our welcome to the board

If possible, could you post a screenshot of your Disk Management setup, and ensure we can see how all your HDD's and partitions are set up? We are taking a look at some "uncommon" scenarios that include IDE/SATA HDD mixes and hopefully we will have an answer for you shortly.

Try running VistaBootPRO 3.0 from Windows XP DragonRidr. It will need you to install .NET 2.0 but it should run fine.

Do you perhaps have DEP enabled for all programs? This we have discovered will prevent VistaBootPRO running unless one adds it to the allowed programs list.

Try using Imageshack. To post the screenshot here.

Try the new version 3.1 DragonRidr, as there were found to be some bugs affecting certain drive configurations which have been fixed since version 3.0 :yesnod:
