I read the book last summer. Then I immediately saw the movie after reading the book. I was sorely disappointed. I'm sure there's a lot of deep meaning behind the movie (considering it's a Kubrick film). However, he totally should have titled it something completely different and only referred to it as a very loose interpretation of the book. What really perturbs me however, is that the second book 2010 and 3000 and 3020 (? it's the 4th book but can't remember the numbers), are changed drastically because "everyone" remembers the movie. Apparently he thought that no one read the first book and only saw the movie. How disappointing!
Whenever I see an old lady slip and fall on a wet sidewalk, my first instinct is to laugh. But then I think, what if I was an ant, and she fell on me. Then it wouldn't seem quite so funny.
