VBP v3.1 and Vista RC2 and RTM - Compatible?

Postby jr75 » Mon Nov 27, 2006 6:50 pm

With earlier versions of Vista Boot Pro and Vista RC1, it worked great on a dual boot Win2003 Server and Vista. However, with Vista RC2 and VBP v3.1, I can't even get VBP to open in Win2003 Server.
When I try to open Vista Boot Pro 3.1, it tells me Vista is not installed (it is), then I get a message window saying XPExplorer_nat.dll can't be found, then I get a message window called Unhandled Exception with a multitude of messages on it. I click OK, and VBP never opens.
So, is VBP compatible with RC2, and now, I guess, the RTM versions of Vista?
Should I just uninstall and reinstall v3.1, or is it only tested up to RC1?

Thanks.

I got it to work in RTM with no problems :)

It's working perfectly for me on RTM and it worked fine on RC2 as well.

Did you install .NET 2.00 on Windows Server 2003 jr75? If so then check in Services that both .NET Runtime Optimization Service and ASP.NET State Service are set at Manual or Automatic and that they are not set as Disabled

I think it would be worth doing an extensive Beta Test of VBPro, with many participants, on the RTM platform :yesnod:

VBP 3.1 is not working for me on Vista Ultimate x64 rtm

Postby Cbarnhorst » Sat Dec 02, 2006 2:59 am

When I run VBP 3.1 in Vista x64 I get a message that either Vista is not installed on my computer or that I have an irregular drive configuration.

When I click OK I get the message "XPEplorerBar_nat.dll not found" and am advised to install the Native Libraries (I don't know what those are).

When I click OK on that I get an unhandled exception error, the gist of which is that the CLR detected an invalid program at XPExplorerBar.TaskPane.

When I click OK I get to admire my desktop wallpaper.

Uninstalled and Reinstalled - Same Problem

Postby jr75 » Sat Dec 02, 2006 1:49 pm

Thanks for the replys.

I uninstalled v3.1 and installed v2.1. At least v2.1 would open, but I got all sorts of error messges when trying to do anything. I then uninstalled 2.1 and installed 3.1, and it still would not open - same error messages.

I do have .NET v2.x installed and the 2 services mentiond are running (startup is manual).

At this point, VBP is not working - at all. It's too bad, it was a nice little program. I don't see any info on the web site indicating it was tested past RC1, so I am wondering if they are still developing it.

We are currently working on a RTM version of VBP that addresses issues that some users have experienced with the current build, and currently we are hoping to have it available before the public release of Windows Vista in January. We will also be inviting select members of PROnetworks (especially members with issues such as the ones you are experiencing) to help us Beta test this next version within the next few weeks.

The errors you are seeing are something we are currently investigating; it seems to happen only on certain configurations as many of us have installed VistaBootPRO on both the x86 and x64 RTM versions of Windows Vista without any problems;

To help us identify the problem, if you could post a screenshot of your disk configuration as seen from Vista's disk management console, as well as let us know what AV program you are using, and if you have DEP enabled, this will help us in our troubleshooting of this issue.

Although we have tested VBP 3.1 on many different systems, due to the incredible number of possible system configurations we appreciate these bug reports that help us identify possible issues and help us make VistaBootPRO better for all users.
