WinBackup 2.00

WinBackup 2.00, by Uniblue Systems, is another addition to the crowded environment of data backup/recovery software packages. The producers claim that:-
WinBackup 2.0 Standard (is) the fastest backup and recovery software on the market (which) allows you to secure all your valuable data within minutes.

Aimed firmly at the home and small office user base, WinBackup features a familiar, easy-to-use Graphical User Interface to make sure that both amateurs and professionals alike can find there way around it and use it to backup their most valuable data. It also features shortcuts to over a hundred of the more popular applications allowing the user to quickly and easily backup email, address books, digital images, etc, all at the click of a button.

It also introduces "new advanced compression technologies" allowing the user to save more data to a variety of different storage media such as :-
    Hard Drives
    Network
    Zip/Jazz/REV drives
    CD-R/RW
    DVD-R/RW +/-
    Portable drives (Firewire and USB)
Armed with all this information, we put it to the test and see for ourselves whether it lives up to it's reputation. The details of the system used to test the application are as below:-
    Intel Pentium D 2.80 GHz
    Intel D945GTP Motherboard
    Gigabyte DVD Writer IDE Drive
2 X Western Digital Raptor 36 GB SATA Hard Drive with 4 equal partitions of 17 GB
Windows XP Professional SP2 on Partition 1 (System Drive)
