I'm very happy with that desktop and with the resolution set at 1152 X 864 as the monitor refresh rate works well there too. I can't get to save it though.

Here's the errors I get:

So I click on Yes and it takes me to the nVidia control panel

When I click on Save to X Configuration File I get this error:

I've already downloaded and installed the most recent Ubuntu approved and recommended drivers - 180.44. I need help to get the settings saved please. The theme and desktop are saved but not the resolution, so I have to set that again each time I start up.

Try installing ndisgtk (the graphic version of ndiswrapper) from the Ubuntu repository and using the Windows driver for your monitor. That has worked for me in the past.
