The thing is, here in NYC it gets into the 90s, but theres a LOT of humidity so it's a totally different heat compared to that of Las Vegas.

That's why somebody invented the so-called heat index and the wind-chill factors. Maybe somebody knows how the heat index works; I just know that when the temp and relative humidity are both above ~75

That's correct.

I cannot believe how hot it's been out west lately, and how far north.

It's been hot here too... pushing middle 90's F each day and humid as hell. The thunderstorms cool it off each afternoon, thank the lord, but it's still horribly hot during the day. I can't walk the 30 feet to my car in the parking lot without sweating.

ditto. the thunderstorms here don't have much affect though. it rained for over an hour of heavy downpour Sunday and it was still almost 90F outside. just ridculous.
