The Saga of Ryzom
The weird and wonderful world of Ryzom develops apace.
It's been a while since we last looked at the visually incredible Saga of Ryzom. The game has come on in leaps and bounds since then, though, with loads more information coming to light. Certainly, the developers hope the games easy-to-grasp combat and magic system will appeal to the standard RPG player. It's a moot point wether newcomers will be so well catered for, however.
God is in the details, they say, and Nevrax want to ensure Ryzom's startingly detailed gameworld fosters a genuine online community. To that end, the skills of people who work as craftsmen, hunters or traders will be highly prized in-game. Players will live among large NPC tribes, who will then produce the quests to keep them busy. Many of these will centre on exploiting local resources and taking advantage of other players and NPCs to expand and colonise.
Of course, more traditional elements such as levelling up through combat will also be possible. All these lofty ambitions, as well as a hugely developed science-fantasy game world, mean that The Saga of Ryzom is shaping up to be something very special indeed.
