Most hard core use DreamWeaver. I use Web Expressions but I am not hard core. I do not do any webpages, just my own. I did use Frontpage but Web Expressions is better. I think John uses DreamWeaver.

I am not sure about freebies due to I have never searched for any.

Having fought off Dreamweaver for years (using Frontpage), I always figured I was doing it right. Frontpage had its qualms, but I didn't let the quirkiness get to me and my ability to "pure-code" helped me around the problems.

This year I took a job that required me to know and use Dreamweaver. I quickly learned what I'd been told around three years ago to be true. That I'd never really used a web design tool before, just a cheap imitation called Frontpage.

Dreamweaver is an incredible software tool for building websites, and its template building ability, which is not easy to learn in a quick manner, is superior to everything I've seen.

Given the right amount of patience - Dreamweaver will be sure to impress you.

Can't make templates like I think he's talking about in notepad though. You'd need an advanced program to do it.
