switching to raid 0, windows old
I have a system with two hard drives, one has a Windows install with needed files. If I set up a raid 0 will it save a Windows old folder? I don't have any way to back up my data. I need to set up a raid 0, and I need to know if it will save the Windows old folder, before I commit to it.

Re: switching to raid 0, windows old
You can't use an existing installation when you run raid 0 as both drives will be blanked when you set up the raid 0 configuration. Your raid controller BIOS will even warn you about this. There's no way around this as with raid 0, half of you install data goes to the one drive and half to the the other drive, even though you will see only one enlarged drive via Windows. You will have to fresh install Windows and back up anything you want to keep before setting up the raid 0.
