Yes PayPal uses the auto renew feature. But it also has the feature to cancel. So technically you could sign up, wait a few months and then cancel. Your subscription will remain valid until the one year date. We have a spreadsheet we track all of that in. We prefer folks just wait and cancel before it renews (if they even want to), but we'll do it the way I described above also. The renew feature just makes it easier for everyone... no reminders, no switching accounts back bc someone forgot, etc.

Down at the bottom of the page it says:

-This offer is not transferable to another account, and must be renewed on a monthly or yearly basis only. PayPal is our only payment method of choice.

You said PayPal is auto-renew but this seems to lead me to think that we have to renew ourselves. Just a little confused...

It should auto-renew. PayPal I believe only gives that option. It also tells me if someone cancels.
