Speed up load time

Firefox is slow to load initially on Windows XP. You can speed this up a bit by using XP's built in prefetcher. Simply right-click on the Firefox icon you use to start the browser. Add the text /Prefetch:1 to the end of the line in the target field.

The whole line should look something like the following:

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" /Prefetch:1

No, what it does is speed up the startup of Firefox when you click on the Firefox icon. It basically makes it so that it's "ready to go." Prefetch basically keeps apps "on hold" so they load faster. :)

If you want, you can have Firefox start at startup, of course. But that's not what this is for.

Oh, I interpreted "load Firefox on startup" to mean "launch." Either way, what I said applies. :)

There is also a nifty little app called Fire Tune that will dramatically speed up all aspects of FF. You can find it here (it works great)
