Postby magixworks1 on Sun Jun 20, 2004 12:25 am

My friend has a toshiba modem pcx2200 cable modem...and needs to have the ports reconfigured to allow file transfering...can this be done through his computer running Win XP or will he have to call his cable service provider?

you better call cable service provider. they have to setup your cable modem. Call them and give them your id# on back of modem. Make sure modem is hooked to cable and they will upload a file to your modem to set it up.

We were wrong...it was his router that needed to be set up. We typed in his IP address and got onto his Linksys routers setup page, then found the Customized Applications, entered the port settings and checked "enable" on the 4 ports he wanted active...worked ok. I wondered when he told me it was his modem but it was really his router. so...problem solved...thanks.
