Absolutely horrendous for the local population here. It must be a nightmare which will take folks years to recover from. Thanks for the pics.

Every one seems to be losing sight of the fact that this hurricane did some major damage. They aren't covering it much just because it didn't live up to being quite as bad as Katrina. The only reason there wasn't a big loss of life from this storm is because most everyone evacuated.

I understand that. There's been an assumption made that Rita let everyone off scot free, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Just because the ferocity of it dropped by a category, doesn't mean that the damage was any less. I just feel so sorry for all those folks, with their lifetime buidling up a home, and seeing it gone in minutes. That is very heartbreaking.
