Quad Booting Windows 7 with Vista - need help with boot screen

Postby Firecapt on Fri Jan 02, 2009 7:53 am

Okay guys,
here my issue, and I think I narrowed it done to the BCD entries. I have 4 O/S's currently installed on my system. Windows 7 x86[aka Cal fire], Windows 7 x64, Windows Vista x86[aka Calfire], and Windows Vista x64. all function properly except the bootscreen is the old Windows Vista crawl instead of the new morphing bootscreen. I figure that something is screwed up in the BCD, but I'm not that good at figuring it out. Here's what shows in vistabootpro:

As you can see, I put the Windows 7 OS's in charge of the bootloader. So what am I missing? Folks that are good with BCDedit comments are greatly appreciated.

Split to own thread as the issue is not the same as the thread originally posted in.

UPDATE:

DO NOT use DVI- HDMI cables for your monitor if you want the full effect of Windows 7. I found that was my issue ^*^ It's Fixed, :doc and now I see the animated bootscreen like everyone else. If another member has this problem. Please instruct them to use either DVI-DVI cable , or VGA -VGA. That d*mn DVI-HDMI cable wasn't cheap either. Bought it a year ago with my 37" monitor. :police

Thanks for the feedback Firecapt. Clearly no one had an idea with there being no replies and I'm sure others will come across the same issue ^*^

That's interesting; I do have a system with a DVI (PC) to HDMI (28" monitor), but it is not yet running Windows 7. Could it be that your 37" is an LCD TV? We definately had issues at work with DVI-HDMI on HD TV's, particularly a 37" 720P
Also, which animations are you referring to? I see the MS horizontal scrolling progress bar, then I see "Starting Windows", then I see the MS logo sort of animate/appear

Yeah,

the more I look at it, the more I think it's the monitor, which is a sharp 37" TV. Well, I've only had it for a year so I'll get real monitor at the end of 2009. Mywife would not be happy wiith me buying another monitor atfer getting this one. :-? The Animation is the balls morphing into the Windows logo.

Yes, there is a HUGE difference in a monitor and an LCD TV; a monitor will give you much better resolution options, as where even a 1080i LCD TV limits you on what resolutions are available/supported. Just because an LCD TV has a DVI or D-Sub does not mean it will support all the resolutions on your graphics card (Not that any old monitor will either, but you will get more with a monitor as opposed to an LCD TV)

I would use Vista Boot Pro , I am quad booting with it without any problems. I installed it in Vista and started adding builds.
