Hey just wanted to report on my first "hack"(if you could call it that) of the psp. I figured out how to play multiplayer games with one copy(works for at least tony hawks)

requires
2 people
2 psps
one copy of thug(tony hawks underground)

Step One
Person A creates game in wifi

Step Two
A presses open, chooses not to quit game

Step Three
Person B loads game up, joins A's game

Step four
Both Psp's freeze

Step five
thug is taken out of persons b's and placed into persons A's, B chooses not to quit game

step six
A takes game out, gives it to B, chooses not to quit.

And thier you have it, thug with only one copy of the game. Pretty sweet eh? My bro and i just played a game, and seeing as i dont own a copy i had to figure out a way we both could play. Also works for single, just more annoying! Please tell me if you have seen this ANYWHERE else(unless you know it says 1204 as the poster, then its me, and i already know i posted it). I have not seen it post on any board yet so enjoy. Also if anything is unclear at all tell me about it.

edit:Confirmed to work with twisted metal, doesnt work with wipeout , or at bare minumum i gotta figure out one more thing to get it to. I'll post on it if i get it to work.

Another edit after the one above:Wipeout pure i believe has a safety mechanism to stop this, as when the race starts, if you dont have the umd it doesnt work(very unfortunatly.) And gretzkys doesnt work either(less unfortunatly ps if you have gretzlys turn down the game speed to zero, much smother animations, no more head aches!)

Congrads on figuring this out =). As far as Wipeout Pure goes, I don't know if it's so much of a protection or if it's because it streams/caches music from the UMD, so it doesn't like to start without the UMD in the drive. You can however remove the UMD during play, but you cannot join/create a game while you are already playing, so this will require a bit more complex hack =).

Yuh i understand, I think that it is requesting the Go sound from the umd, so its not actually a protection but it does work quite effieciently as one.

it doesn't do not worry, this is legal,as we are not making any hardware mods or cracking any anti-copy mechanism. If we did that, then this would not be legal. For this particular "hack" thier are no protections in place against us doing this, we are merly using the product in a way that sony did not put into consideration(or secretly did), like using a blow dryer to blow up an air matress. Thanks for voicing your concern though!

i've tried it with n.f.s.u.r. and wayne gretzky hockey but it didnt work with both. But i've went far with both of them, like until the game begin...i was able to see the other player to change team, car or course, and see the change on both psp, but both have a loading before playing and then the connection was lost. i've tried both few times but came with the same result... maybe it's me =], so if somebody know how tho do this...I wanted to test metal gear to, but you have to unlock the online mode and im not far anough ;]

As far as i know this is not compatable with gretskys or nfsur, but twisted metal should work(although i have not personally tried that game, i have it but have been sticking to thug and wipeout.) untold legends is a no and i have not heard anyone try acid(but be my guest). I think you just need to load twisted metal, and have it set up so that you can have someone join at any time(havent played it yet so im not sure, i will get you a definite answer by monday)
