PROnetworks Jazz and Blues Experience

I thought I'd try this out on all of you to see if this idea was able to fly. Obviously I like jazz and blues. Just one rule to follow is that your links have to be publicly available such as youtube etc., torrents et al will not be tolerated and removed immediately and upon pain of death, at least here. :P. ;)

This can also be used as a thread to discuss the music/artists we all love. So to get this going off the ground, I'll start off with:

Dizzy Gillespie And The United Nation Orchestra and I'm sure you can all find the other nine easily enough.

Canned Heat

I have a lot more favourites that I could post but I'd rather hear from our members and see/hear what you all like!

To save the videos here are a couple of good ones:

Actually I look forward to having access to all of the experiences we have gathered here. Im sure with my minimal experience, I can stand to learn a lot from all you guys here. A long time Jazz lover, I have several favorites I stick too. But am really looking forward to expanding my horizons.
My all time fav has to be Miles, but all jazz is good jazz. Cant wait to try some new things...

EDIT-Oh and Blues.. well as normal being a middle aged white guy I love blues.. LOVE the blues. I attended the King Biscuit Festival from 1988 - 1997, was a member of the Sony Boy Blues society, a member of the Arkansas blues society.. and need I say that I truly love all things BLUES... Not to forget the N.O. Jazz and heritage festival, but MHO, the King Biscuit is a much better festival, more up close and personal, and more BLUES not so much commercial crap (ok not forgetting its always sponsored by Miller, and Virgina Slimes..) Oh I can smell the Bar-Ba-Q... West Helena is one of the premier blues fest.. best there is.

Hehe rip, ya I love Miles too, saw him twice live. :yesnod: My fave is 'Bitches Brew' but Miles Davis & John Coltrane- SO WHAT
comes in equal IMO. Mind you he had changed his style by the time I saw him. It's too bad Hendrix died on his own puke as Miles wanted to play with him. Really sad.:( It would have been a glorious collaboration!

Just thought or this, I have a Clifton Chenier disc, gold tooth and all.:D

Robin Trower in my opinion, took over as THE master lead guitarist, where James Marshall Hendrix left off :notworthy

This is quite hard blues. The lead work is exceptional.

It's quite hard to find his earlier albums online and believe me I've tried. In particular I'd like to replace one titled "Beyond the Mist" which was zipped from me by a "friend". I know it was her and she knows I know it, but she denies it and just doesn't want give it back

Robin Trower is outstanding, ahh that takes me back to the days and of course one of my favorites Bridge of Sighs

Of course one can't mention the blues without including Robert Johnson, a man that truly set the tone for many of the later artists :yesnod:

I'm not too sure of that Graham though he is good, sounds too much like Hendrix, which IMHO tends to make him a Hendrix wannabee. Check out Roy Buchanan - when a guitar plays the blues Image

Crappy video. too bad

I don't have much to chime in here wth, I'm not a big jazz fan, but I do love the blues. BB King is my fav, and I just recently learned tha BB King never plays any chords. Says he just doesn't "do" chords.

What augie, you're not sure that's my opinion? It is my opinion, I'm telling you that...I should now right?

Robin Trower's been at it since the mid-late 60's (procol harem), and yeah he was heavily influenced by Hendrix as were a lot of rock/blues lead guitarists from that era. He has his own distinctive style and sound to those that know his work :yesnod:

Now Roy Buchanan is a good guitarist, but his stuff is a bit too bluesy for my taste. BB King on the other hand (how blue can you get?), is a different story altogether - a legend in his own time too, and I really like some of his stuff. Just listen to this and here with Clapton and Jeff Beck ^*^

Jim, it's all good. The thread topic is called 'Jazz and Blues' as they are related to each other. Keep posting as we all want to know what you like! :yesnod:
