Doesn't work:

ScanWizard 5 v6.11 -- this is the package includes both the driver as well as controller program, and Scanner Configuration software, for the Microtek Scanmaker 4900

The software does install, but when trying to run it, the scanner is not found. "Add new hardware" says it cannot locate the driver on the computer or online.

SnagIt 7 installs and works.

Folding @ home instals with compatibility wizard only and works well.

Works:

ClearType Tuner (not a program, but is designed for XP -- works on Vista though)
http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cle ... Step1.aspx

Not only allows you to turn ClearType on and off (which you can do in Windows) but is a MS ActiveX control which allows you to adjust different levels of it.

Deamon tools works fine for me, what I had to do was run the installation, then after restarting I had to run the installation again. It will complete after running it a second time.
