Problems installing XP with Win7 installed first

Postby aquarius999 on Wed Aug 03, 2011 8:35 pm

After more than 2 years of using

Vista/WinXP on Laptop Asus F3Ka without

any problems I have to thank you again

to Gravity(Graham) for his wonderful

help. Any way time flies and I'm having

another problem trying to install XP on

my new Asus desktop:
Processor-AMD Phenom™ II X6
Processor Speed -2.9GHz
Cache Memory-6MB
System Memory (RAM)-8GB
System Memory (RAM) Expandable To-16GB
Type of Memory (RAM)-DDR3
Hard Drive Type-SATA (7200 rpm)
Hard Drive Size-1TB
Graphics-ATI Radeon 3000
Video Memory-1GB GDDR3 Win7.
I've shrunk/devided disk in 3

partitions: Win7(C),WinXP(F),Data(E).

When I'm triyng to install XP on clean

partition everything goes fine.Then in

the middleof "Installing devices" comp

shuts down, there is a blue screen with

"IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL" and
STOP: 0X0000000A (0X00000010,0X00000002,0X0000000, 0X8051AA58).

That's all.

Please help.

Thank you

Thank you for the prompt reply. As I mentioned before everything goes fine with XP installation untill certain point. In the middle of "Installing devices" comp. shuts down. There is a blue screen with "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL" and
STOP: 0X0000000A (0X00000010,0X00000002,0X0000000, 0X8051AA58).
What's wrong.
Please help.

It appears to me at least, to be a driver issue, most likely the SATA driver for your motherboard.

Do you get a screen that says something like, If you want to install drivers etc, hit the F6 key, you need to find the XP SATA drivers for your new motherboard, have them on a floppy disk or slipped streamed into an XP install disk

I don't get any messages except I've provided before. There is no floppy slot in PC. If I find XP SATA drivres, how to install them along with soft?

You may have missed the message, it appears along the bottom of the screen while the files are being loaded for install, what version of XP are you using to install, SP1 Sp2 or Sp3?

You will have to slipstream them onto a XP install disk, using nlite or a siminlar program

you will find nlite here http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

here is a good tutorial on how to slip stream guide-slipstreaming-windows-xp-sp3-t102318.html

I've got Win XP Pro SP3 from my old desktop and installed to the new one. Everything is fine now, except several drivers are missing and I can't connect to the internet. I really appreciate your help. Any suggestions to solve these issues?
Thank you.

Go to Device Manager and figure out which drivers you need; you will have to find the motherboard drivers for XP while in Windows 7 or on another computer, download and save them somewhere, e.g. flash drive or whatever and then transferred to where you can use them.

First and most important is probably the Network Adapter

Do I have to go to BIOS and figure out the motherboard and then go to net and find drivers for that MB?

You will need to figure out somehow what MB you have, because you need the correct drivers for it.
