I have upgraded 6 PCs from Office 2003 to Office 2007 without a hitch, then a couple more from Office 2007 Beta 1 TR1 to Office 2007 Beta 2....

What do you mean when you say "without a hitch?" Do you mean that the upgrade wiped out 03?

I have another rig with 03 on it (my x64) on which I am going to install 07 today and see what happens.

There are conflicting reports about the results of 2k3 > 2k7 Office Upgrade --- some lucky guys have reported that the upgrade does what it's supposed to, but others report (and I'm one of them ) that it leaves both 2k3 and 2k7 on your system, with random effects on default software data ...

Personally, I tend to just clean install the 2k7 and forget about the earlier version ...

At least it isn't just me. I actually don't mind having both. And the slight inconvenience it initially caused is trivial.

I guess one of the issues is that Office supports upgrading and combining elements of all Office versions from 2000 onwards, so that any combination of software from any various 2000 > XP > 2003 > 2007 versions can theoretically work together.

Add upgrades and service packs, and really there's such a large variety of existing Office System installation possibilities that it's not so surprising that variable upgrade results can occur ...

It's also (still) fairly likely that some versions of Office 2003 may be upgrade-incompatible with some Beta versions of Office 2007

I personally dislike the 2k7, but that's just because I dislike ALL first editions of Office

...

Hate 97, love 2k

Dislike XP, love 2k3

For the time being, dislike 2k7 ... etc ...

I hated XP edition of Office, but 2003 was good and IMO 2007 will be better. I wish you could switch between layout... new users will miss the drop down menus.
