Windows (code name) Blue - New information

I have been testing Windows 8 (W8) Enterprise Windows-to-Go (W2Go) on a WD passport enterprise (500GB) external Hdd.
Using W8 I installed W8.1 Enterprise & got it activated, then installed the Hyper-V feature.
In Hyper-V I installed W8 PRO & activated itv w/ my TechNet key then jumped through many hoops to get the internet working. Finally was successful & installed around 30/62 WU updates then checked the 'Store' & there was a link to upgrade to W8.1, ran that & it installed easily but took 1 hour, 41 minutes to complete the 3+GB download & upgrade, it's still activated. I do need to dump the windows.old folder but that's easy by running W8.1 'disk cleanup'.

So now we know that Windows 8 x64 PRO can be upgraded to 8.1 in Hyper-V on a Windows-to-Go (certified) drive

*Warning W2Go won't install W8.1 on a non-certified drive (I tried & tried & tried & tried several ways, incl. using imagex.exe but failed w/ non-certified USB3.0 drives). The imagex.exe W2Go steps work great installing W8 though.

It appears that Microsoft is preparing another large update to Windows 8.1, this one atm is called the "Spring Update"

Mary Jo Foley posted some info on this earlier this month & now WZor has some new screenshots from the OEM build that was recently released to OEM's for testing.

Rumors only, some say March, April @ Build 2014.
MS isn't officially saying though

We had a leak last night... this one is called:

Build String: 6.3.9600.16596.WINBLUES14_GDR_LEAN.140114-0237 (x64)

I snagged a copy w/ a slightly different file name (so I could use a fast torrent):
9600.16596.WINBLUES14_GDR_LEAN.140114-0237_X64FRE_CLIENT_EN-US-IR3_CCSA_X64FRE_EN-US_DV5.ISO

Size: 3.78 GB (4,063,657,984 bytes)

I AV scanned it & it had no malware, etc.
There is a couple of (extra) injected files w/ a 2/1/2014 date, instead of 1/14/2014
1) is a internet shortcut to the website that leaked it?
2) is a EI.CFG file that labels it as 'Retail'

This screen shows the watermark that appears before one activates it.
I installed this beta in VMware 9.0, it runs quite good in that VM.

Looks like WZOR will leak another but this time its a 'MSU' file both x86 & x64.

Windows 8.1 Update is available as an MSU files build 9600.16610.WINBLUE_S14.140201-1007

The x86 & x64 MSU files leaked.
Suppose I should read the tutorials now instead of shooting-from-the-hip :)

Nothing in tuts on installing in VMware so I used what they said & failed 2 - upgrade attempts (on earlier Upgrade 1 installs) I finally had success doing a clean W8.1 GA RTM PRO install & upgrade.

Not impressed, some changes but a bit buggy too, need to wait for the RTM to be released.
