Hey guys, im just trying to learn some cisco stuff to study for my CCENT.
I bought a few switches (3550s) im looking at flashing an EMI Image to. I have been messing around for a few hours now and cannot get it working (TFTP).

I have my laptop connected via console, and also via ethernet cable to port 1 on the switch.

Ive read some guides but not 100% sure what im doing. it seems the switches have some kind of config on them already as my laptop keeps being automatically set to an ip of 169.254.126.107/16

I have already erased the config, deleted the vlan.dat etc and reconfigured the switch manual (not via the "wizard")

Im not 100% sure what im doing and i cannot find solid info anywhere on it.

If someone could give me a little walkthrough on how to make sure i can tftp over my .bin upgrade.
I configured Vlan 1 with an ip and a gateway. But im not sure how to get it connected to my laptop as it just keeps detecting that ip address. and nothing like ive assigned.

Son of a...I just manually entered the Ip to the same subnet and its working fine now. I knew i should have done that earlier. im tired haha
