New system problems

I took 252+ digital photos this AM (493 MB = apx 2 MB ea) & updoaded them from the SanDisk card to the PC using a SIIG USB 3.0 card reader.
In Win7 x86 it took: 15.7 sec = 31.4 MB/s
In Win8 PRO x86 it took: 14.5 sec = 34 MB/s

As stated above the -
Win7 install used the ASUS chipset/USB 3.0 driver
Win8 install uses the Miocrosoft Win8 USB 3.0 driver.

I don't know if its the driver or the OS for faster in Win8 results though.

I think prolly a combination of both better driver and faster OS ^*^

Im thinking one or so Windows updates snuck in before or during install of chipset and other drivers off MB CD

No, it was probably just an I/O glitch during setup.

This is so frequent a "problem" with Windows VI/7/8, that personally I generally avoid doing any lengthy software installation or other post setup operations til I'm sure all the Windows updating has worked properly.

Glad it's working !!! ^*^

Just an update; The system had been running fine, I left it running 24/7. Thunder storms were forecasted and I was away from home, so I called my wife, to have her shut the system down. Instead of using the start button, to shut the system down, she simply hit the power button. A couple days later I went to turn the system back on, nothing. I tested the power supply, and only the 24 pin light came on, so I had to RMA the power supply.
