I need a reliable way to dig up hard drive serial number from within XP. I work on bank equipment and though in real life it is fairly easy to pop open the side of a tower and look, in this situation that won't work. The banks don't want people digging around in their ATM's and coin counting machines, tax kiosk and so on. I am hoping for a portable program that does not require Admin rights, and can work for SATA and PATA drives. I don't need the volume number, but the actual serial number, the same printed on the exterior of the drive.

So, any thoughts?

I found a program that did the trick for me. Portable .exe so the base software is not disturbed.
