Was just about to post this, but someone beat me to it !! :()

Interestingly, it now seems that W8 will not be running natively on ARM chips, which suggests in turn that Microsoft's vision of a single OS for all the various types of computer devices will not fully materialise with this forthcoming generation of Windows...

Forbes dislikes it, and thinks it's too reminiscent of BSOD here : http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/20 ... go-review/

Microsoft sees Windows Server 8 as a cloud operating system
February 15, 2012 - 06:00am

Microsoft is now seeing the upcoming Windows Server 8 as a cloud operating system which will provide better management capabilities, increased security, and significant cost savings. The company also believes that this operating system will help many customers move more of their business to the cloud.

"With Windows Server 8, we now see it as a cloud operating system, which is to say an OS for lots of servers and all the devices that connect them. That means we’re able to give customers a far more coherent experience at lower cost and lower effort on their part," Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

Microsoft believes that Windows Server 8 is the biggest and most transformational server release they have ever had. "It’s not just the great advances we’ve made in storage, networking and virtualization. What’s most transformational is the change of identity. In past, we always viewed Windows Server as an operating system for a single server," Microsoft adds. Not anymore. Windows Server 8 will now be viewed as a cloud operating system.

Edit, 2/6/2012: More info.
Microsoft Bing page tips off new Windows 8 Consumer Preview
Microsoft has already cooked up a special Bing page tempting users to check out its upcoming Windows 8 "Consumer Preview."

The first clue is the video of a betta fish swimming from one edge of the screen to the other. Thought of as Microsoft's mascot for beta versions of new operating systems, that particular fish swam its way onto the desktop of the beta for Windows 7 in 2009.

But other more obvious clues are the hot spots and links scattered across the screen that refer specifically to Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Since the page is still a work in progress, most of the links don't yet work. The only two that do bring you to a page for developers eager to create Metro-based apps and another one for Microsoft's Building Windows 8 blog.

*The link that says "Windows 8 Consumer Preview" still goes to the WDP download page, hopefully that will change tomorrow (Feb 29,2012).
