Backing up BCD Registry in XP SP3

Postby loboman » Thu Feb 02, 2012 7:47 pm

I have a dual boot system: Windows XP SP 3 on one partition; Linux Ubuntu on the other. Currently I boot up using GRUB. I bought DualBootPro thinking I could go in and change the order of boot options, alter partitions, etc. But when I opened DualBoot I got a message saying I hadn't backed up my BCD registry. I have no idea what that means or how to do it on XP. Is there an easy fix or did I miss something and buy a product that won't work on my OS? A fix would be great; otherwise, please refund.

ignore the message, XP doesn't use BCD. BCD is used by Windows 7

Okay, I ignored the message, but then I'm directed to a page that asks for a BCD backup path or a BCD restore path. There are other menu options across the top, such as Boot Information, Operating Systems, Advanced Settings, etc. Not sure where to got from here.

Love to return to pro software, but on the screen I'm looking at I don't see an option for that.

P.S. Do I go to System Bootloader and install Windows Legacy to boot my XP system?
